This Privacy Policy explains how RemoteX collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information in connection with TV Remote and its services.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the TV Remote app and the related features, content, and services made available by RemoteX within it. It does not apply to third-party services that operate under their own privacy policies, including Apple App Store services, Apple subscription and payment processing, email providers, and third-party analytics platforms.
2. Information We Process
Depending on how you use the app, we may process the following categories of information:
- Local network and device information: to discover and connect to TVs, the app processes information such as TV name, brand, model, manufacturer, IP address, port, device identity, or a weak device fingerprint.
- Local cache and preferences: the app stores discovered device cache, recent device information, app list cache, pinned states, haptic settings, onboarding state, and other user preferences on your device.
- Pairing and authorization information: for certain TV brands, the app may store pairing details, client keys, authorization tokens, or similar credentials locally in order to reconnect to the device.
- Purchase and subscription status: we use Apple's StoreKit APIs to load products, process purchases, restore purchases, and determine whether premium entitlements are currently active.
- Product analytics events: we use PostHog to capture product usage events such as app launches, screen views, discovery flow events, connection results, settings actions, onboarding steps, and purchase or restore outcomes.
- Support and feedback information: if you contact support using the in-app email flow, the drafted email may include diagnostic information such as app version, iOS version, device model, and, when a TV is connected, the TV name, brand, IP, model, and manufacturer. You can review and edit this content before sending.
- On-device diagnostic logs: to improve text input functionality, the app stores a limited amount of text input telemetry locally on your device, such as action type, brand, device name, adapter name, success, latency, text length, and certain error details. These logs are not intentionally sent to our analytics service as product analytics events.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information above to:
- discover, identify, connect to, and control compatible TVs and TV devices;
- remember your preferences, recent devices, and app-level display state;
- complete pairing, authorization, purchase restoration, and premium entitlement verification;
- diagnose connection issues and improve product quality and reliability;
- understand how features are used so we can improve discovery, connectivity, onboarding, and monetization flows; and
